My son told me I had to watch it and I binge watched it, as you did. I am
a dragon fan and that kept me around for The House of Dragons. But I think the current one, which deviates from the royalty and builds through a commoner will be the most fun. And judging from our current government horror
story, a story we need most. I totally agree with you. I'm excited for it.
I love Westeros so much all around. I've been working my way back through HOTD the past few days because this new spinoff has just left me craving more. Before the show I thought dragons were so cheesy, but I am an official convert hahaha.
Glad you're enjoying this new one as well and thanks for reading, Linda!
I don't get too involved in canon or details on any of these types of sagas, but I appreciated the very detailed precision of GOT set design. I probably couldn't name many details on any of the houses, even though I watched every season.
This series is quite a step away from GOT, which I enjoyed. It's very different. And very enjoyable. For some reason I was expecting to dislike it. So far, quite the opposite.
The relationship between the two characters is fantastic so far. I hope they don't mess it all up.
There's hardly a show I can think of that's more demanding of multiple watches for proper understanding than GOT hahaha. The sheer amount of things that went over my head on that initial watch-through, despite having my eyes glued to the screen, was absurd. So it would be impressive if you did really remember all of the various houses and relationships.
After HOTD, I've had reasonably high expectations for all Westeros-related spinoffs. But after the calamity that befell GOT season 7-8 (did I remember you saying you didn't totally mind them?), I was pretty resistant to start that first prequel until I'd read enough rave reviews. Now, I have more faith in how these stories that already have pre-written endings will fare. I think that's a significant determining factor.
Yeah, the ending didn’t bother me that much but I thought it was pretty lame. I just wasn’t emotionally involved. I wasn’t able to get into House of the Dragon, but I think it was mostly because I was so turned off by the first episode. I should try that again.
I’m glad I’m not alone in not remembering much. I guess I knew that, based on all the early confusion, but once a canon starts to take hold, people figure it all out. I never really tried. But not because I didn’t like it. There were a whole bunch of characters I really loved watching. Pretty amazing show overall.
