Another thing that kept this grounded was the long term affects of bullying on people's mindsets and behaviors. Sustained harassment leaves deeps scars which often continue to influence behavior years, even decades, later.

Totally agree! You pretty much feel bad for everyone in this episode.

RIP almond milk.

Definitely sold by this well written review, so I started watching it tonight. Will finish tomorrow, I hope (started late, else I would have finished).

Curious to hear your thoughts! The full season or did you start with that episode?

Thanks for reading, Charles!

I’ve only seen “Common People” and the two Callista episodes. The Callista one was weird because I hadn’t seen the first one and they started off with a “recap,” and I didn’t know if the recap was satirical. I had to look it up on IMDB to discover that there was a previous episode in another season. Overall, the Callista episodes were kind of fun.

Common People was pretty unpleasant, possibly because I’m too close to it through a recent medical episode of my own. Also, when I was younger I liked dark endings a lot more than I do now. I loved Night Gallery, for example. Now that I’m older, I prefer happy endings, so, of course, Black Mirror may not be suitable for some audiences, lol.

Bête Noir looks pretty interesting, though. I’ll probably finish that tonight.

It's the only episode to date with a recap! I really liked those two. I went back and revisted the first part after seeing the sequel.

I have a feeling episode 4 or 5 might end up being your favorite from this season if you continue powering through. I can understand the hesitation, though. It's certainly a far from happy show. I think Common people is probably the single most dreary and sobering one this season.

I just finished Bete Noir. It was pretty good, I thought. I felt bad for the boyfriend lol. I just started Hotel Reverie. That looks very cool.

My editor read it and was like "What the fuck are you talking about? Is this title going to make sense by the end?" He ultimately agreed it was suitable hahaha.

Think that they are referring to the documentary on Viktor Orban which is Democracy Noir and well worth seeing, but a bit hard to do so right now. It should be streaming soon. https://m.clarityfilms.org/democracynoir.html will let you know when it is available on line.

We saw the film Democracy Noir at the Roxie theater in San Francisco, but that was the last scheduled showing in a theater. I am in e-mail contact with the producer and I will let people know when the movie is streaming and where it can be found.
