Oh, Ben... that really made me tear up. Ugh, I'm sorry.

Have you had many dogs in your life? It's no joke when people say they're a part of the family. It's still a real challenge for me to talk about Boo.

Thanks for reading, Brandon.

Yes, we always had dogs and usually cats while I was growing up. The cats I have now are much more like family than any pets I ever had.

I cried through this whole piece. I too lost my soulmate, my best friend, my constant faithful companion. It’s been 5 years and I miss her every single day. I have her picture all over my house and in my heart forever.

So sorry to hear about your loss! There's this expectation many people have that we're just supposed to get over a pet loss in a way that we wouldn't for people, but even 5 years after losing Boo, it still breaks my heart to talk about. She'll always be a part of me.

Thanks so much for reading, Patti.

I get it. Our dog passed at the beginning of Covid. I still have a hard time thinking about it. They are family members. We now have a cat that isn't our cat. He just moved in from across the street, and he is our new family member. Thank you for sharing your experience, and your love for Boo
