I, too, was not taught to use the Oxford comma. In the last few years, however, I have gotten used to using it, probably in large part because of Grammarly.
Because I take total poetic license, I use punctuation as a tool to make my point and make you hesitate where I want you to. The Oxford comma is sometimes needed, sometimes not.
I read everything I write.
Then I stick punctuation in wherever I want to. I usually end up following the rules, even though I don't try to. Isn't free speech wonderful?
I will miss it if trump is not taken out sooner rather than later.
