I’ve only seen three musicals on Broadway, Ben. Man of Lamancha, Fiddler on the Roof, and Beautiful:the Carole King Musical. It’s quite an experience. I was able to see the Book of Mormon on YouTube (a bootleg recording) with a favorite actor of mine, Ben Platt (your namesake). It is gritty, of course. Or maybe I should say “coarse” of course. I loved it. Anything or anyone can be an object of worship. We see that to the nth degree these days. I think one message from the play is that the purveyors of biblical “truth” have a fluid? message. Amidst all the humor, the point is clear. Given the right circumstances, people will believe anything.
