This was such an interesting perspective to read as someone from Gen Z who ended up falling in love with The Odyssey through the text itself. I’ve actually been putting off seeing the film because I was worried it would overwrite the version of the story I’d built in my own mind. Reading your thoughts honestly made me feel a lot more open to it though. I hadn’t really thought about the possibility that a great adaptation could deepen your relationship with the original instead of replacing it. I recently wrote an essay on The Odyssey because I became a little obsessed with what it has to say about ambition and the people we forget while we’re pursuing it. Which, now that I think about it, is probably an interesting Gen Z conversation to have with Homer lol. Thanks for sharing this!!! Cheers <3
